back to reality...with a new watch!

hi!

i hope you all had as wonderful of a holiday as i did. it was a really great week and half off and i am so so so so so sad that the christmas decorations came down. even though a new year always means a fresh start and the beginning of something new and unknown, i always spend the first week of january just a little bit sad.

but the good thing about going back to reality is that i'm doing it with my BRAND NEW CARTIER WATCH courtesy of the husband of the year. he completely shocked me with this bad boy for christmas and i think i'm still not believing it's real. i guess my not-so-subtle hints that i wanted him to hand-me-down his own made him go one step further.


i feel weird "bragging" about my new watch, but f*ck it, i'm doing it anyway. typically i like to write about the favorite gift i gave so i'll do that too.

anyone who sees me regularly knows that i love me some toms. i was too wrapped up in other things recently to take part in the special austin edition and the special movember edition (they had a tiny mustache on them, swoon!), but i don't think i'll miss out on these gold glittery tweed edition. they're all the rage for the holiday season so get yours before they're gone (and they'll give a pair to a child, too!). it's like wearing slippers, seriously. toms gilded herringbone classics, $54.

remember when i blogged so long ago that TOMS was introducing a wedge? fellow blogger melanie reminded me on friday that none of us have been able to find them in store. well, look what i found - sign up on the TOMS website to be notified when the shoes are available. you better believe i entered my email address as soon as i found that page and i hope you do too!

wearing white before memorial day #5 / TOMS shoes

few things make me happier at the end of the work day than taking off my work shoes and throwing on my TOMS for the walk home. i've practically worn out the gold sequin pair my mom gave me for christmas and my next pair will be the $44 white canvas classics. rock them with jeans or a skirt and feel cute and funky at the same time. the best part? you can throw them in the washer to buff up the whiteness.

toms shoes are exempt from any no-white-wearing rules considering they give a pair of TOMS to a child in need for every pair purchased. heart them!

you may have picked up by now that i HEART wedges. i really love wearing heels but there's something about a wedge that i adore to the max. and look what i found! toms shoes is coming out with a WEDGE version! swoon! i have a pair of the regular old toms and i rarely wear them out of the house because i think they look weird on me. but a wedge!? yay!! i haven't tracked them down yet but i think they're retailing somewhere for about $70. write to me if you've found them, por favor.

i may be a little late to the game with the whole TOMS shoes trend, but better late than never. TOMS' business philosophy is one i really admire. for every pair of TOMS that is purchased, they give a pair to a child in need. so really it's like you're buying two for the price of one. i think buying TOMS will be my good deed this week - and they'll be my new fall/winter commuting shoes (and maybe they'll help me fit in a little bit better in my new city filled with hipsters?). there are so many to choose from (glittery to patterned to vegan to plain canvas) and these are just two of the styles that stand out to me. check out their site, it's for a good cause!
