putting up our crate and barrel dubois mirrors

i've had my eye on these dubois mirrors ever since we first purchased crate and barrel's colette bed about two years ago. while i don't usually copy rooms item-for-item from the store catalog, these just go together like peas and carrots. for christmas i was gifted a set of two from my parents and a set of two from nick's parents, and i gifted myself the last set this past week. my handyman nick helped me put them up over the weekend.

the last step is to find new bedding to better match my white and green curtains. i'm thinking all white. any other suggestions?

baby steps to being grown up

this bedroom photo from crate and barrel is my ultimate dream come true. i think it is absolutely gorgeous - modern, sophisticated and just so so so pretty. as part of our quest to live like grown-ups with grown-up furniture, nick and i recently splurged on the bed frame in the photo (the colette bed from crate and barrel). i'm completely obsessed with it.

and as part of our continued quest to live like grown-ups with grown-up furniture, i have had my eye on the accompanying dubois mirrors. their antique finish is really neat in person - no two mirrors are alike - and i love the way they look when hung up in two rows of three. i have a friend who has them (she lives like a grown-up) and they look really nice on a wall above her dining room table. they're on sale right now for $159 for a set of two, marked down from $179. and i just happen to have a 10% off coupon they sent me a few weeks ago...now might be the time to splurge!

rented apartment = no paint for you!

i've mentioned before that nick and i have a self-inflicted-no-painting-the-walls rule due to the fact that we rent our apartment. i painted an apartment a few years ago and have never had such an emotionally and physically painful experience as when i had to paint it back amidst all of the other moving chores i had to complete (thanks, mom, for holding my hand through such a life-changing/scarring painting effort).

so anyway, its sorta a challenge for me to make a room feel put together and warm when i am staring at bright white walls...until i came across these nifty removable blik wall decals. you can probably tell from some other posts that i adore monochromatic or two-color graphic prints, and they are the absolute perfect perfect perfect complement to our crate and barrel bedspread. the package comes with 11 decals for $65 - worth every penny to not have to 1) buy paint, 2) paint, 3) clean up from painting, 4) watch paint dry, 5) buy new paint to paint it back...i think you get the gist.
