outfit in action: flock of seagulls

i was so late for work today but i just had to take a pic of what i was wearing - even though i look slightly bloated and/or possessed in this bad photo. i finally decided to go for it and wear my new summer maxi dress, which a coworker lovingly dubbed my "flock of seagulls" dress. i got this bad boy from austin boutique fabrik and it's made my collective concepts. belt is new york & company and the cardi is H&M (btw, i get to go to the biggest H&M in the US in a few weeks when nick and i go to vegas for a weekend, woooot! i miss this store SO MUCH!).

outfit in action: canadian tuxedo

banana republic top, new york and company jeans, michael kors wedges, belt from nyc street vendor, banana republic cuff, danielle stevens necklace

when the chambray shirt came back into favor last year, i admit i was a bit skeptical. jean on jean = canadian tuxedo in my book. however, i've embraced the chambray craze (and so has my dad for the last 25 years) and i rocked it all day and all night. it was a super comfy work outfit and transitioned well to see tosh.0 at bass concert hall that night.

outfit in action: an oldie but a goodie

i was rummaging through my picasa folders and found these outfit in action photos that i never posted. thought i'd bring it back old skool (aka a summer work outfit from when we still lived in the apartment). banana republic top, ny&co shorts, ralph lauren wedges.

time sure does fly when you live in austin and travel all over the country. nick and i have been traveling fools lately and it's been a really fun couple of months. we have quite a few more trips planned for the rest of the summer and fall and i'll be posting about my shopping exploits here, there and everywhere in between, i promise. here are a few shots from our recent whirlwinds...

wearing white before memorial day #1 / outfit in action

aaaaand kicking off my new year's resolution with a bang, here's what i'm wearing today. i kinda feel like i should be lunching on a yacht with ramona from the new york housewives. forgive the amateur-take-photo-of-self-in-mirror photo. maybe i should ebay a tripod.

ny&co plaid shirt ($5.99), ny&co gramercy shorts ($17.50), j.crew gold belt ($10), steve madden kobraa flats ($60), danielle stevens monogram necklace ($78), marc jacobs bucket tote ($500 on super sale about six years ago)

wearing white before memorial day #1 / white jeans

i've unfortunately grown out of my favorite white jeans and shorts from last summer (thankyouverymuch, tex-mex and bbq) so was keeping an eye out for those two items in particular during a trip to the mall on saturday. new york and co was having a massive sale (as usual) and everything was an additional 15% off. i hit the jackpot and walked out with two pairs of white shorts and a pair of white jeans for about $50. unfortunately the pricing on the website isn't reflective of the in-store sales so i reco popping in.

i'm all about wearing white before and after the "allowed summer months." i simply avoid wearing them with beachy or summery pairings or accessories. it's all about dark blues, purples, browns and black.

i forgot to take a photo, but i rocked the white jeans saturday night for a date with my hubs. they were super comf and looked awesome with a fuschia club monaco silk racerback tunic tank and brown vintage (ha, four years old) michael kors newton wedges. note to self...start taking photos of outfits. it'll be my late new year's resolution.

above: skinny ankle jean, optic white wash, $36.50 (i got them on sale for $19.99 plus an additional 15% off)

above: metallic brocade gramercy short, $34.95 (i got them on sale for $19.95 plus an additional 15% off). they remind me of a much more expensive pair i ogled over in j.crew last summer.

above: fine stripe gramercy shorts in white, $34.95 (i got them on sale for $19.95 plus an additional 15% off)

50% off at new york and company

four words:
new
york
and
company

followed by a big fat question mark.

new york and company? since when do you make cute clothes that i'd consider purchasing? i blogged monday about my new romper and i think i need to go back this weekend to take advantage of their 50% off sale - EVERYTHING is 50% off. they have some cute stuff in the exact categories i'm lacking in my spring wardrobe - skirts and dresses. aside from monday's romper, here are a few examples of what may be in my cart:

below: park avenue strapless eyelet dress, $56.95 marked down to $28.47, pictured in optic white and drastic red

below: watercolor floral soft skirt, $39.95 marked down to $19.97, pictured in ravishing red and yellow bliss

PS. i know it's april 1st and i owe you all a monthly mood board. BUT i've been spending most of my waking hours at work (i'm in a hotel room in houston right now) and hanging out with my fab mother- and sister-in-law visiting from baltimore. i'll get to it...one of these days.

romping around town this spring

remember my quest for the perfect romper last summer? well...it continues...and i think i've found it. i picked up this solid sleeveless romper yesterday at new york and company -- on sale for $29.99 (marked down from $42.95). i can't wait to rock it with my new fancy red cowgirl boots. yep, i got the red.

PS. this is my 250th post! woot!
